More invitations to apply (ITAs) via the Express Entry system have been sent out by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). In a draw based on French proficiency categories, the department distributed 6,500 ITAs.

Candidates have to construct an Express Entry candidate profile by 4:41 PM Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) on February 10, 2025, and have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 428 in order to be considered.

After two Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws and a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) earlier in February, today's draw, which is the fourth of the month, comes next. In February alone, the IRCC issued 11,601 ITAs.

As IRCC aims to reach its landings objective for 2025–2026, draws in 2025 have so far mostly targeted CEC and PNP applicants. Specifically, the 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan's "In-Canada Focus" category facilitates the immigrant landings* of both CEC and PNP candidates. A total of 82,890 admissions are allotted to this group in 2025.

*Invitations (ITAs) sent via the Express Entry system are not the same as landings or admissions. When an immigrant enters Canada for the first time after applying for and being granted permanent residency (PR) and obtaining their confirmation of permanent residence (COPR) document, this is known as a landing. This completes the process of applying for a PR. On the other hand, an ITA enables a candidate to apply for PR to the IRCC using the Express Entry system. ITAs are not detailed in the Immigration Levels Plan; landings are.

How may my CRS score be improved?

There are numerous ways for Express Entry applicants to raise their CRS scores and raise their chances of being granted an ITA. These consist of:

  1. Getting a provincial nomination: A candidate's profile can gain an additional 600 CRS points with a provincial nomination, almost ensuring them an ITA in the upcoming eligible draw. Through the “enhanced nomination” process, candidates in a PNP stream associated with Express Entry may have their PR application handled by the federal immigration system in order to receive a provincial nomination.

  2. Increasing language scores: Language is a crucial CRS scoring component that can increase a candidate's profile by up to 310 CRS points when combined with other criteria, such education. Candidates who have a spouse or partner can receive an extra 320 CRS points by adding their language scores to other scoring factors.

  3. Making a qualified spouse or partner the main contender: The spouse or partner of a candidate may occasionally score higher on the CRS than the primary contender. In these situations, the couple might want to submit two separate candidate profiles, either of whom could be the lead applicant, or they might want to switch their profiles so that the accompanying spouse or partner becomes the principal applicant.

  4. Obtaining a second education credential: Candidates who have at least one post-secondary credential from a Canadian institution may receive up to 250 points for education within the CRS, while candidates who finished their study outside of Canada may receive up to 200 points. In order to earn points toward an already-awarded degree or education credential, candidates in the Express Entry pool who finished their study outside of Canada could additionally want to take the Education Credential Assessment (ECA).

  5. Job Experience: A candidate's profile can gain a significant number of CRS points from further Canadian and/or international job experience. By carefully documenting their present work experience, individuals in the Express Entry pool may be able to raise their CRS scores in addition to gaining more qualified, qualifying work experience.
